We’re not your average family.
We believe nature is the best habitat and training ground for children.
Some people might call us a little crazy.
We believe no sacrifice is too great to be able spend every day raising our own kids to be strong, passionate, capable, and godly young men and women.
So let me introduce my family and you can decide for yourself if we’re crazy or not.
We’re Joel and Esther Ribbey. This is us in 2018 on our anniversary.

We took a family hike by the river since it was such a nice October day. The kids unanimously voted it the best anniversary ever.
Thanks, kids. Glad you enjoyed that – since, of course, anniversaries are all. about. the. kids. Oh well. This is me, throwing up my hands in surrender.
Side note: I’m horrible about taking pictures. I’m serious! Family events will go by and Joel will ask, “Did you get a picture of that?” And I’ll realize I didn’t even THINK of taking pictures! The pain is real. BUT I took pictures on that hike! That’s something, right? Tell me that’s worth something!
This one’s my favorite. 🙂

The two younger boys had plopped down on a suspended log and said, “Mom, take a picture!” (No, that doesn’t mean they had to remind me to take pictures! Stay focused!) I told the older two to join them first for a nice sibling pose. The moment they sat down the rotten log broke, spilling the younger boys backwards into the dirt.
So that was my nice sibling pose. I try.
We’re “Going on an adventure.”
Kids Outdoors is our family adventure. As a family we love bow hunting, fishing, hiking and anything else outdoors and we want to use what we know to pass on that passion to you and your family.
When we began, we had no idea how to create great videos but we jumped in anyway. We have no idea how quickly or big Kids Outdoors will grow but we’re giving it all we’ve got.
This is what we do know:
It will be educational. We already know a lot. Let me rephrase: Joel already knows a lot (almost everything I know I learned from him) and we’re learning more all the time.
It will be entertaining. ‘Cause we’re human. And we don’t know everything. And stuff happens. Enough said.
Kids Outdoors has a pretty big mission and you’re a big part of it. Jump on over to Our Mission to find out what Kids Outdoors was created for and how you can help.
Just like Bilbo Baggins didn’t know where he would end up in The Hobbit, we have no idea where Kids Outdoors will take us. You just might want to stick around and join us for the ride!
We’re not perfect.
Obviously.
Life is a journey. We didn’t just get here overnight. Yes, Joel was a self-taught outdoorsman from the moment he could walk. Yes, homeschooling and me staying home with the kids was decided before our oldest was even born. But becoming Kids Outdoors was journey of many twists and turns and fine-tuning as we’ve moved through different adventures and seasons of life.
We’ve made our share of mistakes and learned countless lessons but you won’t find a stronger, more unified family that will fight for and love each other through thick and thin.
We’re a team. And we’d love to have you join us.
This adventure is just getting started!
